Quick Fix

Why Can't I Open a Trade?

If you can't open a trade on Skyriss, the cause is almost always one of five things: insufficient free margin, the market being closed, an order size outside the allowed limits, a price or volatility issue rejecting your order, or an account restriction.

Most blocked orders are fixed in under a minute once you know which one you're hitting. The error message on your platform is your biggest clue.

Work through the checks below in order. They're arranged from most common to least, so the first few solve the majority of cases.

Quick Fix Checklist

Before anything else, run through these:

1. Check your free margin. Not your balance, your free margin. This is the most common cause by far.

2. Check if the market is open. Different instruments have different trading hours.

3. Check your order size. It may be below the minimum or above the maximum allowed.

4. Check your order price. Stops and pending orders placed too close to the current price get rejected.

5. Check your account status. Incomplete verification or an account restriction will block trading.

6. Refresh or restart the platform. Connection issues can cause orders to fail silently.

Here's how to diagnose each one properly.

Cause 1: Not Enough Free Margin

This is the number one reason orders get blocked, and it catches people out because they look at the wrong number.

What's happening. Your account balance is not the same as your free margin. Free margin is what's actually available to open new positions after your existing trades have their margin reserved. If you have open positions, a large part of your balance may already be locked as required margin, leaving little or nothing free for a new trade.

How to check. In your Skyriss trading platform, look at the account information panel and find Free Margin or Available Margin, not Balance or Equity. If free margin is low or near zero, that's your answer.

How to fix it.

  • Reduce your order size. A smaller position requires less margin. This is the fastest fix.

  • Close an existing position. This releases the margin it was using.

  • Deposit additional funds to increase your available margin.

Why this catches people out. If your open positions are running at a loss, your equity falls, and your free margin falls with it. An account that could open a trade an hour ago may not be able to now, even though nothing about the new order changed. Losing positions quietly consume your capacity to open new ones.

Cause 2: The Market Is Closed

Simple, and easy to miss, especially when you're trading across different asset classes.

What's happening. Not every instrument trades around the clock. Forex runs 24 hours on weekdays but closes over the weekend. Stock CFDs generally follow their underlying exchange's hours. Indices and commodities have their own schedules, and many include a daily break. Public holidays affect specific markets too.

How to check. Open the instrument's specification in your Skyriss platform to see its trading hours. If the price isn't updating and the spread looks frozen or unusually wide, the market is likely closed.

How to fix it. Wait for the market to open, or place a pending order to execute when trading resumes.

Watch out for the weekend gap. Markets can reopen at a very different price from where they closed, so a pending order left over the weekend may fill at an unexpected level.

Cause 3: Your Order Size Is Outside the Limits

Every instrument has a minimum and maximum trade size, and orders outside that range are rejected.

What's happening. Your order volume is either below the minimum lot size or above the maximum permitted per order or per position.

How to check. Open the contract specifications for that instrument in your Skyriss platform. It lists the minimum volume, maximum volume, and step size (the increments you're allowed to trade in).

How to fix it.

  • Increase the size if you're below the minimum.

  • Reduce the size if you're above the maximum, or split it into multiple smaller orders.

  • Check the step size. Some volumes are rejected even when they sit between the minimum and maximum, because they don't match the allowed increment.

Cause 4: Price and Volatility Rejections

If your order was rejected on submission rather than blocked before it, the cause is usually a pricing issue.

Pending orders or stops too close to the market price. There's a minimum required distance between the current price and where a stop or pending order can be placed. Set one too close, and it will be rejected. Fix: move the level further from the current price.

Invalid stop loss or take profit. Your stop or target may be on the wrong side of the price. A stop loss for a buy must sit below the entry, and for a sell it must sit above. Fix: check the direction and increase the distance.

Price moved before execution. In fast markets, the price can shift between your click and the order reaching the server. If the new price falls outside your tolerance, the order is rejected. Fix: retry the order, or increase your allowed deviation or slippage tolerance in the platform settings.

Extreme volatility or news events. Around major economic releases, spreads widen sharply and execution becomes less reliable. Orders may be rejected or filled at very different prices. Fix: wait for conditions to stabilize, and take extra care trading through high-impact news.

Cause 5: An Account Restriction

If none of the above apply, the issue may be with the account rather than the order.

Verification incomplete. Live trading requires full account verification. If your Skyriss account isn't fully verified, or documents are still under review, you may be unable to open positions. Fix: complete verification and upload any outstanding documents.

Account in close-only mode. In some circumstances an account can be restricted so existing positions can be closed but new ones can't be opened. Fix: contact Skyriss support to identify the restriction and what's needed to lift it.

Instrument not available on your account type. Not every instrument is available on every account type. Fix: confirm what your account supports.

Expired documents. If your ID or proof of address has expired, trading can be restricted until you upload current documents.

Cause 6: Platform or Connection Problems

Sometimes the order isn't blocked at all, it simply never reaches the server.

What's happening. An unstable or dropped connection causes orders to fail or time out. The platform can look normal while being disconnected.

How to check. Look for the connection status indicator in your platform. If prices aren't updating in real time, you're likely disconnected.

How to fix it.

  • Check your internet connection.

  • Log out and back in.

  • Restart the platform.

  • Try a different device or the web version to rule out a local issue.

  • Make sure your platform is on the latest version.

Read the Error Message

The error your platform shows is the fastest route to a fix. Common messages and what they usually mean:

  • "Not enough money" / "Insufficient funds" → free margin problem. Reduce size or close a position.

  • "Market closed" → check the trading hours for that instrument.

  • "Invalid volume" / "Invalid lots" → order size is outside the allowed range or step.

  • "Invalid stops" → your stop or target is too close to the price or on the wrong side.

  • "Off quotes" / "No prices" → no live price available, usually outside market hours or during extreme volatility.

  • "Requote" → the price moved. Retry, or adjust your deviation setting.

  • "Trade disabled" / "Trading not allowed" → an account-level restriction. Contact support.

Note the exact wording before contacting support. It saves considerable time.

When to Contact Skyriss Support

Work through the checks above first, since most blocked orders are resolved in that list. Get in touch with Skyriss support if:

  • You've confirmed sufficient free margin, an open market, and a valid order size, and the order is still rejected.

  • You're seeing "trade disabled" or a similar account-level restriction.

  • Your verification appears complete but trading is still blocked.

  • The platform behaves inconsistently across devices.

  • You're getting an error message you can't identify.

To get help fastest, have this ready: your Skyriss account number, the exact error message, the instrument, the order size and type, and roughly when it happened. A screenshot of the error is ideal.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why can't I open a trade even though I have money in my account?
Because your balance isn't the same as your free margin. Open positions reserve margin, so your available margin can be far lower than your balance. Check free margin specifically, then reduce your order size or close a position if it's low.

Why is my order being rejected on Skyriss?
The most common causes are insufficient free margin, a closed market, an invalid order size, a stop or pending order placed too close to the current price, or an account restriction. The platform's error message usually identifies which one.

What does "invalid stops" mean?
Your stop loss or take profit is on the wrong side of the price or too close to it. There's a minimum required distance from the current price, so move the level further away and check the direction is correct.

What does "off quotes" mean?
No valid price is available for that instrument at that moment. It usually means the market is closed, or liquidity is insufficient, often during extreme volatility or outside trading hours.

Why does my order keep requoting?
The price is moving faster than your order can reach the server, which is common in volatile conditions or around news releases. Retry the order, or increase your maximum allowed deviation in the platform settings.

Can I trade on weekends?
Most instruments, including forex, are closed over the weekend. Check the trading hours in the instrument specifications on your Skyriss platform.

Why is my account showing as close-only?
A close-only restriction means you can exit existing positions but not open new ones. Contact Skyriss support to identify the specific cause and what's needed to resolve it.

My trade was blocked but now it works. What happened?
Free margin fluctuates with your open positions' profit and loss, so capacity can return as positions recover. It may also have been a temporary condition such as a volatility spike, a brief connection drop, or a market closure that has since ended.

Getting Back to Trading

A blocked order is rarely a mystery once you know where to look. Check your free margin first, since it accounts for more blocked orders than every other cause combined, then confirm the market is open, your order size is valid, and your stops sit at a permitted distance. Those four checks resolve the large majority of cases.

The error message is your shortcut. Read it, match it to the list above, and apply the fix.

If you've worked through everything here and your order is still being rejected, the Skyriss support team can help. Reach out with your account number, the exact error message, and the instrument you're trying to trade, and we'll get you back to trading as quickly as possible.
